UNDER THE SHADOW
OF AN ANCIENT MOON

A public art commission for the City of Greater Dandenong as part of the Nocturnal Winter Arts Festival, 2014. A collaborative Bill & Curt work (myself and industrial designer Curtis Martlew - We Are Human).

The Dandenong area was once a grassy woodland dotted with Red Gums. For generations these magnificent trees stood as the tallest objects in the Dandenong landscape. Under the Shadow of an Ancient Moon pays tribute to these mighty trees and re-imagines their night shadows cast in the urban landscape.

Using an outdoor floor decal Curtis and I recreated a 5x4m moon shadow of a River Red gum in the centre of Dandenong. The work was installed for two months during winter. We created the work using a mixture of photographs, 3D renderings and photoshop.
